Hacienda La Minita: The Original Direct Trade Coffee from Costa Rica

Hacienda La Minita: The Original Direct Trade Coffee from Costa Rica

Before the explosion of small coffee roasters and the almost unlimited access to small coffee farmers that the internet and social media provide, there was a small estate in Costa Rica that quietly did the work of building the world they wanted to see.

It’s an incredible story if you think of it. We take it for granted that we can buy a whole galaxy of single estate coffees from all over the world.

Back in 1985, when Hacienda La Minita first exported their estate grown coffee, the world was different. No one expected coffee to taste great, and no one really thought that deeply about where it came from or who grew it.

That all changed after Hacienda La Minita introduced their way of doing things, by producing incredibly high quality coffees and not blending them with other farms from their region.

It sounds so simple, but they gave us a paradigm shift that eventually changed the whole world.

The incredible news is even after all this time, La Minita continues to impress with the quality of their coffee.  The coffee simply tastes fantastic.  It’s sure to be a crowd pleaser, and we can’t wait to buy this coffee again next year.

We’re incredibly indebted to the work of the innovative visionaries at La Minita for creating this world of specialty estate coffee.
