Living Soil, Shade Grown, Magic Coffee: from Guatemala

Experience the Magic of Shade Grown, Living Soil Coffee from Guatemala! đŸȘ„

We’re thrilled to introduce a stunning coffee from our sourcing efforts in Guatemala, Floral, St. Isabel! It's grown using innovative "living soil" practices that bring out an unmatched depth of flavor and environmental integrity.

Let's start with the farm.  It's a forest. Coffee plants are planted throughout the understory of many layers of shade trees.  These canopy trees protect the smaller coffee plants,. and host a diverse range of local flora and fauna.

Next, is the “living soil” style growing approach. The producers at St. Isabel rely solely on natural compost made on site, without any conventional pesticides or fertilizers. Their commitment to sustainability isn’t just better for the people and their land; it’s also better for the coffee in every way.  This compost is shown in its full natural glory in the photo above.

Unlike standard Organic certification, these living soil methods rely on natural compost made on-site, which means no chemical inputs, no transported fertilizers, and a sustainable, biodiverse ecosystem on the farm.

We’re committed to a direct trade model that values farmers’ expertise, and contributes to long-term sustainability.

To mark this special coffee, each bag of Floral, St. Isabel has our gold “Living Soil” sticker, a symbol of the clean and sustainable growing practices behind every cup. This isn’t just organic. It’s a step beyond.

Whether you’re passionate about sustainable coffee or simply want to experience something new, St. Isabel is one to savor. Drop by the cafĂ© to try it for yourself!

Thanks for joining us on this adventure,
